What does this mean? Well, the naked truth is that we, you and I, have always been in a fight of sorts. The nature of politics and the world we live in is that there is and has always been a constant tension between those who rule and those who are ruled. What’s changed in the USA is that this tension has become simultaneously more obvious while also being cleverly disguised. People like Trump and the cronies he is surrounding himself with, at home and abroad, are not interested in fairness, or in creating the conditions in which others can flourish. Of course every country has had its share of leaders who talk a good talk about doing right by the majority while steering events and creating policies that do the opposite. But most of these, with the exception of dictators, have understood the need to give some concessions to keep the hope of their promises alive. Trump and his ilk don’t seem to give a **** and they don’t care who knows it. The West is in new territory and Kansas it is not.

They say the first step to improving any situation is to understand it. The importance for each of us, the average person, to understand that we are in a fight cannot be underestimated. The feckers in charge in the USA now are interested in nothing other than themselves. They see fairness as weakness and view everything as a resource that can be exploited. To try to reason with people who do not see the world the way most of us do, would be a fools errand. Asking the liars why they are lying is a waste of time. But there are tools available to all of us that each of us can use.
